Thank you for your visit and comments.
Yo...Sir,

Thank you for your visit and comments.

Your comments help to clarify why Pakistan is such a fine model for how a pluralistic society may be conceived, and what it may attain.

All good wishes,

robertroberthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11393402288038226179noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9022236959270478021.post-16411206152677185702013-03-26T17:21:47.353-07:002013-03-26T17:21:47.353-07:00"Any who feel left out of the category Muslim..."Any who feel left out of the category Muslim may feel in a Muslim society..."

As I understand Iqbal (but this is my own understanding), the aim of Islam is to create a pluralistic society where nobody is left out due to any grounds. However, this can only be achieved gradually.

Pakistan, as conceived by the Founding Fathers and governed during the first 4 or 7 years, was a first big step towards it. I am hopeful that the vision will be rediscovered and Pakistan will resume on that track, perhaps within the next 15 years.Khurramhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05836549601111674071noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9022236959270478021.post-23149610782067383112013-03-21T18:16:28.344-07:002013-03-21T18:16:28.344-07:00Yes,

Thank you Connie for your visit.
Othe...Greetings,

Thank you Connie for your visit.

Others more knowledgeable than I can comment on how others (e.g., Christians) "fit" into a Muslim society. There are Quranic references on this subject, as well as ahadith. Some define "Muslim" in a very narrow manner, while others have broader comprehensions of it.

All good wishes,

robert roberthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11393402288038226179noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9022236959270478021.post-58354105331209442902013-03-21T12:32:44.087-07:002013-03-21T12:32:44.087-07:00This particular post brings together some of my to...This particular post brings together some of my top concerns and interpretations:

I also have seen in Iqbal a speaking of "the totality of humanity itself, how to evolve into a genuine pluralism wherein all people are part of a new social process." as you have surmised...

Whild I have not read Follett, I am drawn to what you and others here have found in her book...such as seeing that the best template of a group/nation/world connectedness may be a "genuine consensus of all persons and an "integrated togetherness" not unlike Iqbal's "psychological fact of like-mindedness"...

Like as in Iqbal's admonition (near the end of Islam as a Moral and Political Ideal) where he argues against the chaos of the crowd, and for the order of the coherent group. He writes:

"Islam is one and indivisible; it brooks no distinctions in it. There are no Wahabies, Sh'ias, Mirzais or Sunnies in Islam. Fight not for the interpretations of the truth, when the truth itself is in danger..." (Along with so much else worth
much more exploration.)

I especially felt resonate with your ending, Robert, that "In a manner which few others have so successfully done, Iqbal emphasized the core essentials and principles of Islam...and the statement: The growable and evolvable will, of each and every person, excluding none, is the power and binding glue which enable the evolution of a social consciousness in such a manner that man is gradually freed from the chains of fear. Free from fear, there is no finality to humanity.

One question arises which needs more time yet has to do with how
any who feel left out of the category Muslim may feel in a Muslim society...

The bottom and top quote are so lovely and as mirrors for us and for each the other...

There in the Simorgh's radiant face they saw themselves.
~ Farid ud-Din Attar (Manteq at-Tair)
CNhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10877484524704475807noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9022236959270478021.post-27453674584618026922013-03-21T10:38:18.773-07:002013-03-21T10:38:18.773-07:00Greetings Sir,
